The Plastic Free Communities accreditation is all about community engagement.
In Hitchin we had to sign up 30 community allies, so we set out to talk to institutions, organisations and community groups.
It was one of the hardest but also the most rewarding objectives. We spent hours upon hours talking to people around our community, holding workshops, story times with children, presentations, discussions, all to spread the word.
We have managed to sign up over 30 schools, local groups and community hubs such as the library, museums and swimming pool. They have signed the pledge to support our cause to reduce unnecessary waste in our beautiful town.
